KKL-JNF’s Photo Archive covers 110 years of photography in the Land of Israel. This is essentially “enlisted photography” that tried to portray the new state through an idealized lens, leaving out elements of the events and the local population. Students from Bezalel’s Photography Department studied the existing materials and explored the historic Russian Compound area in Jerusalem. The exhibition combines individual ideas and contemporary worldviews, looking both at the present and the past.
