Teresa Giannico | Talking about Images

Teresa Giannico’s research challenges the documentary value of photography through a process which reconstructs reality. Her works involve several stages, resulting in a stratified rearrangement: her subjects are downloaded, printed, mounted on cardboard, arranged in a diorama, rephotographed and then re-printed in small and large sizes.

Teresa Giannico’s research challenges the documentary value of photography through a process which reconstructs reality. Her works involve several stages, resulting in a stratified rearrangement: subjects are downloaded, printed, mounted on cardboard, arranged in a diorama, rephotographed and then re-printed in small and large sizes. Instead of creating a perfect illusionistic machine, the use of perspective reveals the illusion of representation within a precarious and unbalanced world.
The images exhibited at the festival begin with drawings of imaginary scenarios for which the objects are chosen from a large digital archive realized over the past few years.
These elements do not have a precise connection between them because they respond only to the needs of the composition.
